Our wonderful little world of dog lovers give us something to be proud of everyday. Puloma Singh, has made the lives of many street dogs better by helping them find furever homes! Here is the story of how she met her indie dog Senna, and we must tell you, its almost like they were meant to be:
On the evening of 16
th March, 2014 my mother called me outside our home to show two tiny puppies hiding behind our car. With the fear of dogs and utter ignorance we decided not to tell my younger sister about them else she would bring them home. The next day, it was the grand festival of Holi. The two silly pups were still there – eating Gujiya & Panipoori with the family. This went on for another 10 days when one evening the brother disappeared. We searched for him but couldn’t find him. Heartbroken and orphaned puppy Senna (the sister) wept and cried all night literally. Senna stayed without her brother and she stayed for good. My good!
On the 16
th of March 2016 were celebrating Senna’s second “birthday”. We are first timers that happened to adopt because we couldn’t let go. We have learnt from our mistakes and as they say, dedication beats experience. Senna is my life, my everything. She is the sunshine I need during the worst storms of my life. She introduced me to the world of animal welfare, made me happily give up non-vegetarian food, made me understand that all animals are sentient, capable of understanding every emotion & feeling the same pain humans do.
I coordinate adoptions of unwanted abandoned dogs or young Desi puppies & it’s such a difficult task to get Indies adopted. While breed requirement with respect to your living conditions is one thing, most of the times the Indies are rejected because they are Indians. Rise above your status symbol and its ‘requirements’ and let the dog choose you. While buying dogs you are only supporting animal cruelty. Adopt a dog and it may sound hard to believe but it will change your life more than the dog’s.' says Puloma, the kind dog lover.
We would absolutely love to get to know more such fabulous dog-lovers in the world! Share your story with us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll tell the world about it!
