This Couple Spent Rs. 3 Lakh To Ensure Stray Dog Flies With Them

Just when you think you think you have lost faith in humanity, good people doing good deeds pop out of nowhere. This US-based couple was on vacation in the tinsel town, Mumbai. They not only fell in love with the city, but also with a three-legged stray dog. The love was so much so that they made sure the pooch flew with them to US. They spend a whopping amount of Rs.3 lakh to ensure this

The dog named Tyagi, found his parents, in the couple Sushant and Sheetal. They apparently spend Rs.1.67 lakh extra to ensure that Tyagi goes to Philadelphia with them. The airline carrier, Air India in which they had their tickets booked did not give the facility to bring a pet. When they enquired with the airlines, they were informed that the pets could fly as cargo only. The tickets were non refundable, hence that money went down the drain. But that didn’t stop Sushant and Sheetal to take Tyagi back home.

By cancelling the Air India flight tickets costing Rs.1.34 lakh, they booked tickets for Lufthansa. According to the trustee of Save Our Strays, Rinky Karmakar, “We were somewhere sure that they wouldn’t be able to fly Tyagi with them this time due to the last minute update from Air India. It was then that I sent emails to the Air India CMD requesting him to look into the matter and at least adjust them in another flight or even another airline instead of just doing nothing. However, I never received a reply. Tyagi was getting a home after a wait of 18 months and we didn’t want this last minute trouble to shatter his bright future. To our surprise, in order to fly with Tyagi, the couple decided to spend an additional $2500.”

Tyagi was rescued by Priya Nagwekar mentioned saying, “Blessings and best wishes to the family who went against the odds and mentalities and adopted Tyagi instead of imported breeds. This happy tale sets an example about humanity and compassion. Don’t shop a dog, adopt one in need.”

Spending such a huge amount might seem to be a little unreasonable to many. But trust us, the joy of taking Tyagi home must be the best feeling for Sushant and Sheetal.
